This FAQ is meant only for the post of Junior Engineer (Electrical) Grade-II in WBSEDCL as per Notification No. MPP/2025/04 dated 24.11.2025.

Junior Engineer (Electrical) Gr-II: UR/OBC → ₹300
SC/ST/PwBD/Exempted Category → No fee

Full-time 3 year Diploma in Electrical Engineering from an institute or college recognized by the West Bengal State Council of Technical & Vocational Education and Skill Development (WBSCTVESD).
Note: Direct Degrees (B.Tech) or Diploma in any other branches are not acceptable for this post.

As on 01.01.2025: 18 to 32 years (General category)
Relaxations:
OBC: +3 years   SC/ST: +5 years   PwBD: +10 years
Departmental employees: Up to 45 years
Ex-servicemen: As per WB Govt. rules

Yes. Candidates must fulfill WB domicile criteria, either:Staying in WB continuously for 10 years, OR Having parent(s) who are permanent residents of WB.
Note: Candidates with valid SC/ST/OBC certificates of WB do not need a separate domicile certificate.

Domicile must be certified only by specified authorities such as District Magistrate/Additional DM/Sub Divisional Officer/BDO, certain senior police officers, specific municipal/secretariat authorities etc., in Proforma A or Proforma B as prescribed by WBSEDCL.

Yes.Students appearing in their final semester/year may apply, but they must produce final pass certificate/marksheet at the time of interview.

Junior Engineer (Electrical): ₹2,00,000 bond
Minimum service period: 4 years (1-year probation + 3 years).

Yes. Selected candidates can be posted anywhere in West Bengal in any WBSEDCL unit/office.

Depending on category, candidates must upload:

  1. Recent colour photograph
  2. Signature
  3. Domicile certificate (for UR/EWS)
  4. Caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC‑A/OBC‑B)
  5. EWS certificate (for EWS)
  6. PwBD certificate (for PwBD)
  7. Exempted Category ID card (for EC)
 (in the prescribed size/format.)

No.Educational and age proof documents will be verified later at the interview or document verification stage; at application stage only the specified certificates/photo/signature are required.

Yes, subject to conditions:

  1. Candidate must choose scribe option during online application.
  2. Scribe qualification must be one level below the required qualification.
  3. Mandatory submission of Annexure-I & Annexure-II after admit card release.

Selection includes:

  • Computer-Based Test (CBT) – 85 marks
  • Personal Interview – 15 marks
  • Pre-employment medical examination

Total: 85 marks

  • Domain Knowledge – 50 Marks
  • English – 5 Marks
  • Quantitative Aptitude – 10 Marks
  • Computer Proficiency (MS Office) – 10 Marks
  • Vernacular (Bengali/Nepali) – 10 Marks

Mode: Computer Based Test with MCQ
Duration: 90 minutes
Negative marking: 0.33 mark deducted for each wrong answer.

UR/EWS: 40% OBC: 35% SC:35% ST:30% PwBD:30%

CBT will be held at multiple locations across West Bengal including:
Kolkata, Siliguri, Asansol, Burdwan, Howrah, Hooghly, Medinipur, Kalyani, etc.

All communication (CBT schedule, admit card, interview call, etc.) will be through company website, registered email and SMS. Candidates must regularly check www.wbsedcl.in (Career tab), their email and SMS.
